A Private Club's Public Problems

>The challenge for Soho House is that its focus on growth, to some members, feels like it comes at the cost of its exclusivity.
If your private club is a business whose job it is to grow, that seems very not private club.
I've been to some local private golf clubs (usually have golf and social events) and they involved families (pools being the draw there) and for the most part their efforts are around stability rather than continuous growth. That seems almost like the only way to do this thing and feel private.
>A standard membership for access to one location can range from about $1,000 for members under 27 to up to $5,800 annually for global access, plus initiation fees.
Is that surprisingly cheap to anyone else?
