Despite my own misgivings about the current state of US government.<p>IN THEORY, I do think that the obvious social issues aside, the US's federal state setup would potentially allow for absorbing someplace like Canada fairly easily. The US is more top down than it has been in the past, but states still make a lot of decisions on their own and I do think that would allow absorbing someone else a little easier. In theory.<p>Not that they should.
