It is humbling to see just how much impact global shipping has had on the world. I worry this will largely be weaponized by bad faith discussions, but we do need more study into exactly how much the changes in regulation have been mucking with our climate models. In large, I don't know how they can't still be seen as a good thing. But I also worry if they were more impactful for the recent swings in climate than we have admitted.

That kinda-justifies sci-fi depictions of planets (sometimes future-Earth) where skies are darkened by smoke stacks and also shot through with lightning.
