Ask HN: Lightweight Alternatives to Parsec for a Centralized Workstation Setup?

1 pointsby Linkd2 months ago
I work from home and maintain multiple “desks” scattered around my house—some indoors, one outside—and I&#x27;m tired of hauling my Mac laptop and peripherals back and forth. My ideal setup would be a central server hosting my entire workstation, allowing me to connect from each station with just a keyboard, mouse, and monitor.<p>I&#x27;m currently using Parsec, but it feels like it still requires a fairly powerful client. Does anyone know of a leaner solution—something that doesn’t demand a heavy GPU on the client side—while still offering responsiveness and a solid remote desktop experience? Any ideas or real-world anecdotes would be greatly appreciated!
