This is a nice little article. The doula doesn't have any hidden agenda, and the regrets she identifies are entirely credible.<p>I would just posit this: If you have reached mature adulthood (not necessarily "old") and are someone who regularly sets aside time for a healthy kind of introspection, then the regrets you will have at the end of your life will be quite similar to the regrets you have <i>now</i> about how you are living your life.
They say you never reach the end saying "I wish I had spent more time at the office".<p>I wonder if that's true. At least, I could see somebody spending the last months of their life complaining that they had run out of money, and that their lives would have been so much better if they'd been richer.<p>It would be great if we knew of a thing that fulfilled our souls while also preventing our bodies from starving. Unfortunately, even the upper-middle-class don't know when they can stop working and just coast on their money -- and most don't really know what their "true calling" would have been.
