> Hayao Miyazaki, the artist and animator who co-founded Studio Ghibli and who still serves as its chairman, hasn't addressed this issue yet. But, in 2016, he called an automated animation tool "an insult to life itself," so I think we know where the elder statesman of fantasy animation stands.
I'm broadly aligned with the sentiments and perspectives expressed in this article, but was disappointed that it didn't have anything new to say from/about Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli regarding the last few years. If they just wanted to write about the quote, read in the context of current day, then I could imagine there are better ways of doing it. Instead, this just strikes me as a rather tepid take that's using Miyazaki's name for clicks. Just to be clear, I'm not necessarily against writers banking on the reputation of their subjects, but ideally that move should be justified by ensuring the resulting writing has something substantial to say.
Thanks for sharing, sorry to whine. If the author is in the chat please take my criticisms in the constructive nature to which they were intended. I probably agree with everything that's said, if anything I wish it had been more forceful in some way.
