<a href="https://www.nature.com/nature-index/institution-outputs/united-states-of-america-usa/harvard-university/5139072d34d6b65e6a002176" rel="nofollow">https://www.nature.com/nature-index/institution-outputs/unit...</a><p>According to the Nature Index, Harvard is the top research-producing institution in the United States, and second in the world (but still highest research-producing <i>academic</i> institution globally).<p>Even if academic research production is entirely worthless, this move is America risking leaving almost exclusively Chinese institutions at the top.
Makes a bit more sense 200million (something) in contracts, and 8.7 billion in multi year commitments. So basically just the start.<p>Harvard is probably way too greedy to do anything but submit.
