The article doesn't actually say it, but the 'A' in the name A14 almost certainly refers to the Angstrom unit of length.<p>Intel have similarly named their upcoming fabrication process 18A - so if TSMC had used 14A that would have been even more confusing than naming it the same as an old Apple chip.<p>Luckily, in TSMC's case, the number will be going down, not up, for any future fabrication processes.
