The article doesn&#x27;t actually say it, but the &#x27;A&#x27; in the name A14 almost certainly refers to the Angstrom unit of length.<p>Intel have similarly named their upcoming fabrication process 18A - so if TSMC had used 14A that would have been even more confusing than naming it the same as an old Apple chip.<p>Luckily, in TSMC&#x27;s case, the number will be going down, not up, for any future fabrication processes.
