The Design Evolution of Mailboxes

Mailboxes are being deprecated in favor of cluster box units in a lot of places in the US. It's sad to see them go away because this sort of individuality also goes away, but I really do like the security of cluster boxes and parcel lockers. Centralizing the mail collection area for a neighborhood is just the right way to do it.

I love the US mailbox design. The flag is such an interesting feature to avoid having to make a trip yourself. Back when I was living overseas sending a letter meant me having to the post office or find an outgoing mailbox to send it.
I love the mail, I love receiving hand-written cards. Something that somebody actually had to make an effort to get a message across. I write all my Christmas cards by hand.
I wish USPS would adopt something like the stamp code in the Netherlands [0]. That way we can avoid using 3rd parties all-together.
[0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postzegelcode
