In my builing we have 2 lifts with one button that calls the closest one.
Noticed that when both of them are on the same floor, the left one will arrive. I guess there is some chip that prioriteses the first in the list.
That would explain why left one already has more issues with doors.
So I decided to simulate its work and see how much more left one will be worn out over time.
In 100K simulated trips left one went 494535 floors vs 226344 of the right one.
Lifts are old, but AFAIK well maintained and planned for replacement.
Still prefer to use the right one, when possible.
