You might have read the news that OpenAI is buying Windsurf for a whopping 3B! In other news, Anysphere, the parent company of Cursor, is raising 900M at a valuation of 9B$! That’s a lot of money for code-generating applications. However, it seems reasonable when you realize Cursor is currently at 300M of revenue. It is supposedly the fastest growing Software as a Service.<p>The question that is bugging me is why is Cursor or Windsurf special? How do they work internally? Aren’t they just a VS Code wrapper?
