This papers describes interesting research into the question of whether trees communicate with each other using the opportunity afforded by a solar eclipse to measure electrical signals in and between spruce trees in the Dolomites Area of the Italian Alps.<p>The resulting analyses indicate that trees do anticipate events like this hours in advance, possibly depending on the age of the tree, with older trees potentially having a memory or anticipatory function for events that are cyclical and predictably timed.
