Ask HN: I'm suddenly hearing a lot about Quantum Computing again. Why?

3 pointsby b800h15 days ago
So I've seen this come up in government, in new headlines, and in relation to AI, but I don't understand the links, and I don't understand if it's a new hype wave or if something substantive has changed. What's the situation?

Partly hype. But it looks like some advances have been made (see also: a couple places announcing quantum chips). It still doesn’t seem to be at a stage where it’s remotely usable for anything, though.

Maybe folks will combine logic circuit generators from AI to quantum simulators, and that will enable future hardware prototypes.<p>One way to &quot;think&quot; versus another, whether it&#x27;s identifying cats or securing a quantum wallet.

AI hype cycle flattening off and they need to make easy money off a other bandwagon?
