Ask HN: Are parent companies looked down upon by investors?

2 pointsby hiddenstageover 12 years ago
Companies like Atlassian do a great job of building a brand around their many products, but would investors rather invest in specific products like HipChat and bitbucket separately or the parent company as a whole?<p>I suppose it's possible to incorporate each of your products separately and give the parent company the shares rather than the founders (who own the parent company) but is this overly complicated?
