At 42Floors we still don’t have traditional job titles. As our company has grown, we keep attracting more entrepreneurs who themselves have never cared about job titles. We’re now at 14 people, and we still don’t really have any hierarchy in the company; so there is not really a need to embrace a lot of formal organization.
A little while ago, we did implement some processes to keep creative anarchy and functional teamwork in balance. But hierarchy and job titles still didn’t emerge.
In fact, the only reason we have job titles on our open positions is that the rest of the world kind of expects them; but once you get here, we don’t really care. We’re a startup. Everyone wears multiple hats. Smart people will do awesome stuff if given the freedom to figure it out.
We’d love for you to come check us out. If you want to write Ruby or Backbone.js, or manage a sales pipeline or talk commercial real estate, we might have a job title that’s right for you.
http://42floors.com/jobs
42Floors
