Lead Web Engineer
PagerDuty is revolutionizing the way companies think about Software Operations. A 25 person startup with great revenues and backing from Andreessen Horowitz and other leading VCs, the Web Engineering Team at PagerDuty is a dedicated group that writes features for the customer facing PagerDuty webapp. We design, develop and maintain the APIs that power the website and the variety of applications our customers have built on top of us. We also build a lot of cool frontends using those APIs using modern front end web technologies like Backbone.js and Coffeescript.
PagerDuty is looking for a heavyweight Web engineer who really understands the Web -- both the technologies that back it and the engineers and designers who work on it. We want someone who values elegant code, cares about creating beautiful user experiences and loves working on challenging problems who will inspire their peers to explore their personal boundaries and drive their careers forward in exciting ways.
Responsibilities
You will get your hands dirty (keeping the codebase clean) as you help pitch-in to produce new features for the product, while also providing technical leadership whenever possible. You enjoy coding and you want to continue to create, yet you also understand that you should delegate tasks to someone if they can do them 80% as well as you can.
You will interact with your direct reports regularly (1-on-1's are a must!) and mentor them in their professional development.
You will run and participate in design meetings, design reviews, technical planning meetings and help to co-ordinate cross-team dependencies to facilitate the work of your team.
You will help onboard, train and mentor junior engineers and new hires.
Requirements
You have 5+ years of development experience building tried, tested and true software for the web. You've been around the block a few times and know where all the potholes are.
You possess a mastery of at least one modern Web programming language like Ruby, PHP, Perl or Python.
You are truly a full-stack developer, so you know Javascript.
You have experience with Agile software practices.
Please apply with your resume and a brief intro letter to jobs@pagerduty.com We look forward to hearing from you!
