We’re hiring a developer who will be our lead builder for native apps and for our mobile-optimized experience. This job is in Chicago.
About Aisle50:
We are indelibly changing the $2 trillion grocery industry like no other technology company. Our VC investors include August Capital and Origin Ventures.
We save consumers money on groceries by partnering with big manufacturers and retail chains. Shoppers buy our offers and subscriptions through web and mobile for 15% to 50% off of normal prices. We then load those items to the shopper’s store loyalty card. When shoppers checkout at the grocery store, they receive full credit for items they already bought on Aisle50. Manufacturers pay the difference between our prices and retail, plus a fee to Aisle50 for marketing and facilitating the back-end technology that allows for the conversion consumers before they ever get to the store shelf.
Our solution is unique in that it melds the brick and mortar world of grocery stores with the web. We alter shopping behavior in a powerful way: we drive extra trips to the store and, once the consumer is at the store, we drive shopping baskets that are 31% bigger for our retail partners.
Some of our manufacturer clients: Kellogg’s, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, General Mills, PepsiCo.
Some of our retailers: Raley’s, Shop ‘n Save, Homeland, D’Agostino, Foodland, Jubilee.
About you:
Right now, Aisle50 offers an iOS app and optimized views to its users, but with our current team’s focus on the evolution of the webapp and our live connections with retailers, the mobile half does not get the attention it deserves. You will change that.
You will have experience building mobile applications from the ground-up. You will lead the effort to create the next generation of Aisle50 mobile offerings as well as help vendor our code for use by our grocery partners, some of whom have their own mobile apps that can utilize modular pieces of our solution.
We already own the consumer outside of the store as that’s where we reach them; but we want to own the consumer inside the store as well. That means integrating mobile with location-based solutions that allow us to communicate with our shoppers at critical moments in the brick-and-mortar buying funnel, from when the shopper enters the store to when the shopper browses the bread aisle to when the shopper checks out this week’s gossip magazine in the checkout line (we work with Time Inc.!).
Our strategy involves both iOS and Android and we would love to find someone with deep knowledge of both, but we're excited to meet people who are stronger in one or the other as well. Bonus points if you have some Rails experience and can work on the APIs the app will consume as well as the app itself.
You will be joining a dev team of 4 + 2 cofounders + 8 sales people + 1 customer service specialist. We roll fast, so you should, too.
Interested? Email us at mobilejob@aisle50.com
