The article seems kind of bitter.<p>Obviously some people find value and fun in facebook applications plus they generate pageviews and ad dollars so everyones happy.<p>My main complaint is that profiles with tens of applications on them take forever to load on my connection and make certain friend's profiles unusable to me.
