"Kay is currently involved in developing a research lab for an unnamed corporation of significant stature. Following in the footsteps of Licklider and Taylor, Kay, having been handed $8M for each of two years, began by developing a list of the top young researchers he would most like to bring together to fulfill his vision of tackling the big problems in communications ... Kay mentions two by name: interface designer Bret Victor and self-described recreational mathemusician Vi Hart, who, in more conventional terms, is working in the field of computational geometry. Of course, Kay chose Vi not for anything conventional about her. "She is the most creative person I have met in 25 years," says Kay. To lure Victor, Hart, and the others on his list (some teenagers, but mostly 20- and 30-somethings), Kay had to secure for them an open-IP agreement from the sponsoring corporation."
