One thing you could consider doing if you are serious about the project is replacing the standard debian testing kernel with the proper kernel.<p>Debian guts all non-free packages, and binary drivers from the kernel. This greatly improves hardware support.
I use the same re-mapping of Ctrl, but use a standard PC keyboard - so I put Ctrl on the alt key, put alt on the windows key, and windows key on the ctrl key position.<p>As I'm a emacs evil-mode user, I also put Escape on the caplock key.<p>Overall debian is hard to beat unless you need the very latest versions of everything.
