Ask HN: What Would Be Android's Answer to Apple Touch ID?

2 pointsby pajjuabout 10 years ago
What would be Android's answer to Apple Touch ID, since Google does not control the OEMs?
I had Atrix 4G Phone before and the sensor sucked.
But to those who say fingerprint scanners/sensors suck, on the iPhone it just works! I mean, It's really that good (sapphire scratch proof button cover probably contribute to that).
Even with a standard API in L, I still don't see it taking off sooner due to fragmentation in OEM ability to execute. Also from the UX perspective, let's face it, Apple Pay with Touch ID is lot better than Google Wallet has to offer today.
Looking for a constructive discussion on this topic.
