Ok, Gotta give him credit- Elon Musk has achieved Steve Jobs level of showmanship, certainly at least with pre-announcement hype.
I don't think his presentation skills are quite as good as Jobs but he's getting better.
I almost wish Apple would get into the electric car business (as rumors say they are) simply because it would be great to see these two companies duke it out in such a design and aesthetics heavy industry.
Tesla's a little bit behind Apple right now, but they had to start from scratch and master car design, car engineering, safety design, interior design, design for manufacturing, and UI design (for their software) all at once, while Apple has had many years head start and has only added one of these at a time most of the time. Thus at this point Apple's designs are highly refined, while the interior of a Tesla and the software UI are in the "not bad" category. (still far better than any other car company when it comes to UI, but not up to Toyota or Honda on interiors.)
But in 5 years? Could be the #1 & #2 Design, Engineering and manufacturing companies going head to head! That will be amazingly good for us!
I'm guessing this will be the Home Battery that was hinted at earlier this year. I'm curious to see what kind of wear and tear a battery powering an entire home can take and how long it's lifespan is versus it's initial cost.
$TSLA shot up 3% right after this tweet. It might be a good strategy to programmatically react to Elon tweets mentioning Tesla and buy $TSLA before anyone else can react.
I won't be surprised if an HFT firm on wall street was already doing this.
