Ask HN: I got offered a position at a startup, what do I do?

2 pointsby sdybskiyalmost 10 years ago
Recently I picked up a project and I started building out an MVP for a webapp for people that don't go to post-secondary schools and need to find a career path suitable for them. The current version is at https://raiseyourflag.com/en/. I am using MeteorJS as a stack for it for now. So far, it's only the CEO and me who are working on it. We had a consultant working with us if I had any questions (since I am not senior level experienced). However the CEO is very satisfied with the quality of work that I am doing and asked me to think about what I want in the nearest future. We are based in Toronto, Canada and I guess I am just looking for people who have been in similar situations. How much should I ask for? What's it like with equity? I think I'll be the main developer working on the project so does that put me in the CTO position? He is in his first stage of fundraising so I can't ask for too much but I really enjoy the project and want to stick with it so we are both comfortable.
