Ask HN: How can I change from consultancy world to web development world?

1 pointsby dougcorreaalmost 10 years ago
I'm 33 years old, brazilian and since 2000 I have been working on corporate world.
From 2000 to 2006 I was working in Telecommunication industry as field technician and later as QA Analyst on Product development.
Then, in 2006 I move to IT world, where I started to work implementing Siebel CRM in almost all Telecom companies in Latin America.
But, I spend the last 3 years learning webdevelopment technologies, mainly Javascript (AngularJS, NodeJS) and Python. I did some freelas with that (not for money but for learning).
I want to make the move now. I want to work with those exciting "new" (at least for me) technologies.
But the problem is: I'm already a senior/expert level in my current career. So I already have a good salary and so on.
Should I look for junior careers on webdevelopment, or can I use my business analysis and Java knowledge and experience to find something in "mid-senior" level in web development world?
It is not being easy to found some fulltime position in Webdevelopment with my consultancy oriented CV.
