I disabled YouTube watch history and my life is a bliss now. YouTube homepage is empty and I am not bombarded with shorts (which I hate wasting my time on, they are just too addictive and time not spent well which I regret later on). I just check my subscription page and search when I want to watch something. I maybe losing out on good stuff by disabling suggestions but it is easily worth giving them up for the peace of mind for me.
