I recently posted a comment on https://blog.ethereum.org/2016/06/24/dao-wars-youre-voice-soft-fork-dilemma/. This is the comment:
I think you should clarify the 'voting' process. You are claiming that this protocol can be used to 'satisfy all community members equally'. But isn't it really based on mining power, just like any other decision based on mining? In other words, 51% of the mining power decides the fate of everyone? According to etherchain.org, the top 3 miners have 27.3 + 16.7 + 11.4 = 55.4%. So in reality, those 3 mining pools could collude to decide the outcome regardless of what all the other miners do.
If the above analysis is correct, then it's disingenuous at best to try to frame this 'vote' as some kind of egalitarian process. It's not.
On another note, the conflict of interest between Ethereum and the DAO is disturbing. Everyone on the Ethereum Foundation should disclose their position in the DAO. At this point, Ethereum looks no better than any crony capitalist "good ol' boy" network.
It was deleted. The comment by Bubba Pumps was posted after.
Did I hit a nerve?
