Many of us are familiar with the disaster unfolding in South Louisiana. I just left Baton Rouge yesterday, so I'm extremely familiar with how bad it actually is (news coverage for those not so familiar: http://www.wafb.com/story/32754538/watch-live-flood-coverage-evacuations-and-rescue-operations-continue).
I'm wondering what the hacker community thinks would be a way to help out(in hacker style)? Maybe collective hacking efforts/ideas can be applied to future disasters around the world to aid recovery.
My .02, we can set up flood maps, hack through red tape to give direct links to help, and set up quick single use soft phone lines since most people in the flood regions are without cellphone service (but often have wifi through ISP)...but these all seem to fall short of what people need.
