It had been a month since I announced my web app www.jeviz.com . It is basically advanced Amazon search with some goodies. It does not show any product but directs users with right search query to Amazon. Here is the announcement on hacker news https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12304642
My target users are power users which understands and fill extra search fields. When I look at Google Analytics demographic statistics: 48% of the users are between 25-34 and 29% are between 35-44 years old and 92% of male 8% female.
Now I am developing a new feature which targets average users. Basically it will list product mix of best sellers, hot new releases, deals etc. I will show personalized products with recommender abilities. So my web app will provide two distinct features with two different user targets with some overlap.
Here is my questing:few users complained about domain name which is jeviz.com (5 letter with no particular meaning). Some users suggesting easy to memorize domain names like betteramazonsearch junglefinder so on. I see the reasoning but I have counter examples like sony (have no meaning), hipmunk (I am not aware of any meaning). Do you think that should I rebrand my web app? Currently I am thinking staying with jeviz.
Extra questions:
Searching products with dimension is also requested which is also possible with Amazon Advertising API. Do you think that it is a feature you may want to use?
Main dictinct features of jeviz are giving more sort options, title search instead of keyword search (which search only at product names), discount slider and deal checkboxes. When I look at Amazon sale history best performing department is Computer Department. Computer Department have several sub categories like "Data Storage", "Printers" and each sub category have distinct filter features. These features a lot and I did not add them currently because when user select sort option, deals etc at jeviz and go to amazon they can already filter them at amazon. Do you think should I add these filters related to computer sub categories? I actually see no add value but a user requested it.
