I apologize if this is the wrong space for this, but things have gotten somewhat dire for me. I am writing looking for two things:
1) Is feedback on my webapp / idea(s) behind it, and if its worth pursuing. As the YC credo of “build something people want”.
The web app is called brainswole. Its an attempt to support a learning style, that is self directed and driven. The model can be:
curiosity of a concept/course -> consume best accessible explanations -> virtually play with concept -> screencast a demonstration of concept
I created STEM course syllabi (calc, linear algebra, data structures), and with Reddit-like fashion, gave users ability to post links of web resources for concepts, e.x. youtube explanations, interactive demos, or problem testing module (Khan Academy, Brilliant.org).
The 2nd part of brainswole is a tool to aggregate all your online learning data from learning providers (Khan Academy, Codecademy, lynda.com) into one syllabi view. From that data, it creates profile page showing number of problems done, videos demonstrations, and the resources used
An illustration: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-Unaz6HSI4
My brainswole profile link: brainswole.com/profile/neilbarduson
I think the most efficient way to learn abstract STEM knowledge is through a digital experience. And I don’t think its going to come from a monolithic source, but through a multitude of companies, groups, and individuals. It would be cool for a place where all these services can communicate.
Sign up with a dummy account, try it out. Im aware the front-end is very basic, but I concentrated on a working minimal prototype.
2) The last 4 years I've spent by myself coding brainswole and other projects and I have decided to come out of the cave and I would love to join the Ed Tech community. What advice would you give for me to land a programming gig in the ed tech space, or by chance, know of any opportunities that would be a good fit?
