You know, it's odd, but it seems that the majority of jobs posted on here seem to skew towards the hot/new/sexy/niche languages/frameworks/technologies, rather than following along with what's actually in more common use. Or maybe it's that the jobs posted here are looking for people who want to be on the bleeding edge of things? This seems particularly to come from those who are YC funded, which could say something about the types of things YC funds. I can't say why it would be, and I suspect that some analysis would be interesting.<p>In particular, I'm looking at http://stackoverflow.com/research/developer-survey-2016#technology and seeing that their most common languages are JavaScript, SQL, Java, C#. And, sure, I'll see some JavaScript positions posted up here, but everything else posted seems to fall somewhere on the long tail of languages that only a handful of people actually use or care about.<p>Is it just that the HackerNews community is all about the long tail? Or am I missing something?
