We recently developed code for a client which can automatically crawl and extract products from e-commerce sites.<p>We basically automatically get product names, descriptions, images and prices from pretty much any e-commerce site - to date we have crawled 50k sites to extract 15 million products.<p>Our client has their own uses for it but we have the licence to use the code as we like for our own purposes, so we're trying to figure out if there's any smart use for this data.<p>We have already ruled out:
- Price comparison : it's a crowded market and requires striking click through deals with individual retailers so there is no benefit to massive scale<p>Any suggestions on uses for this data would be most welcome!
