Looking back at all your jobs and/or freelancing gigs, what were qualities that you respected in people working for the marketing/growth team in that company?
I see a lot of engineers and founders in the tech space (un)intentionally dismissing their marketing colleagues, or thinking a marketer's work is less important than theirs whenever they approach a deadline.
And I have also seen a whole lot of marketing departments working overtime (even if colleagues working for engineering, QA or support teams in those companies have strict closing hours), with very little project management in place and with Management not looking for solutions for their workload or overtime. Would it be fair to assume that marketers would need help with project management also?
Writing this, I also wonder if there is such a huge difference in salary levels to support the "engineers" vs "marketers" discrepancy that I often see in workplaces. With all the time marketers these days spend on analytics, tracking & a/b tests, I find it hard to believe their work requires less analytical skills then an engineer would intrinsically have. But that's probably another discussion.
