Hi guys,
I'm really getting excited over the new Nokia 8110 4G and plan to buy it as soon as it is released.
I was wondering if there were some laptops out there that offer the same feeling of minimalism: cheap screen, huge battery life, lightweight Unix OS (Linux / BSD), good connectivity (bluetooth, wifi at least g, USB 3.0, maybe ethernet support if the laptop is not thin), unbreakable like a thinkpad, cheap, maybe no trackpad.
I don't care about YouTube videos, Netflix or gaming, I just would like a lightweight device for basic internet browsing (HN, github, reading pdfs), mails, and coding with a text editor, a compiler and a ssh terminal. 8GB RAM would be awesome to use chrome and an IDE / Atom but 4GB would be OK for Firefox and vim / emacs / sublime.
I saw the GPD pocket, it is a bit overpriced (maybe because of the touchscreen and the size) and uncomfortable to use because it is too tiny. Plus I don't like touchscreens for laptops.
Do you have any ideas?
