Any game devs here who started off building standard business apps? If so, would you say you became a better dev or more passionate about the craft i.e. software dev? Things learned or unlearned. Looking to know of the contrast between these two dev fields that are in my opinion a world apart. What were your challenges during this switch and your learnings? Would you ever want to go back to building business apps or is this (game dev) a career of a lifetime?
I did although I also made games on the side too back when I was doing business software. I’m now about to exit the games industry after 7 years. Unless you’re into something super specific like graphics you may not see a huge contrast as a general coder. I originally got into programming because of my love of games and I wanted to work in games which is why I felt I had to do at least try to get into games at some point and I’m glad I did. I will still makes games in the future but it’s time for a change.
