My company sells gaming desktop computers for about 10 years. We accomplished a well know website, social media followers and customer base, but business is declining year after year as less expensive models from well-knowed brands are taking the market.
In our physical store we built a Game Center with high-end computers and gaming monitors and peripherals and some VR stations, revenue is good but still not enough to support the business.
I'm wrong to think that providing gaming experience would be more future proof than selling desktop computers? It worth pivoting?
At the current pace, we make 3MM views on youtube, have 12k/daily visitors and sells just about 150 computers/mouth.
I'm contemplating a future where we can pivot this audience to charge a monthly plan (about U$ 20/m) to a membership where you can use the computers freely if they are available or rent by the hour by a cheap fee if not.
We can grow it vertically (literally) in our building renting new rooms to accommodate the demand and franchise over the country if the model validates itself (we are not in US).
I know that this isn't a usual question, but I'm a founder without many strong connections and today I'm really thinking if I'm deluding myself with this idea so I reached you HN.
I know that there's a LOT of variables at play and I'll be happy to clarify them all, I'm really curious about HN opinion
Should a premium Game Center focused on PC experience a better and more scalable business that selling the PC itself?
