Feedback Wanted: Monitoring Observability Pipeline

1 点作者 dgildeh超过 6 年前
We've been mulling an idea for the past 12 months and want to get feedback on the viability of it before we go off and build it. Our team has 5 years building monitoring & analytics solutions for DevOps teams and are seeing a commoditisation in the market as its fully saturated with solutions.
We've seen users get locked into solutions when their bill goes through the roof because the cost of migrating all their agents, dashboards and alerts to another solution would be too great. We've also seen people who want to try a new solution without having to deploy another solution into their environment.
Our idea (Halcyon) would be to provide one agent, one configuration and a service that can then route all the metrics in real time to the monitoring solutions you use, making it as easy to switch as a settings page if you want to try something else or push your monitoring data elsewhere.
https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/halcyon
Our current thinking is it would be a simple on-prem (or SaaS) install, users would just deploy the agent, and out of the box integrations using our simple UI/host view and label selectors.
Once the monitoring agents and integrations are deployed, you could select where to send them on one page, and Halcyon would ensure the metrics get sent to the right place, in the right format, transforming the metrics in real time to ensure it appears in the solution you want without any advanced configuration.
Does this solve a problem people have? Is this something you would pay for?
