I have been programming professionally for over 10 years and have slid deeper and deeper into a backend groove over the last 5 or so. Not unintentionally, as I was chasing the stimulation and flow state from exploring data engineering, NLP and symbolic AI, which has borne fruit.
Now that I have seen the edge of that subfield and am reasonably confident surfing it off into the horizon, I am looking to round out my skills more by getting back into design and frontend development. This is motivated by user empathy and a predilection for aesthetics.
What would be the best resources or starting path for someone already quite experienced in Node.js but having pretty much sat on the sidelines of the state of the art for frontend (besides infra, distribution and performance optimization which I've done)? In terms of best abstractions and developer experience for building UIs quickly, and hopefully with the prospect of calling common native APIs?
Thanks!
