This was a bit of a strange read.<p>1. Long queues... That's how low budget chains operate, they understaff so you regularly get longer queues. They usually resolve pretty quickly. I don't see how this would be a reason for buying lots of groceries. People go there because it's cheap, having to wait an extra minute isn't a dealbreaker for most people.<p>2. No sandwiches or food to go... This is very country dependent.<p>3. No self service... Are there any budget chains with self service? It's probably more expensive.<p>4. Separate entrance and exit... This is pretty common. I'm assuming it's to trick people into buying something by forcing them to go through the store. I don't see how it supports the thesis of Lidl being a shop where you shop a lot.<p>5. Awkward baskets... They look like regular baskets to me, I agree that their size tricks you into underestimating how much you buy.
