I have to second the call to declare email bankruptcy. Just go in and archive every email from more than, say, one month ago (or one week, or if you want to be bold, everything). Guess what? The world won’t end, and you’ll still be able to refer to anything you need simply by … opening your archive.
One think the author didn’t mention was browser tab bankruptcy. Years ago Firefox was just flaky enough that it would sometimes lose all tabs, and that wasn’t really a bad thing in the long run, although it was highly annoying in the short run.
