I never learnt to shut up because I was always smarter than everyone else in the room.
Now, as an old man, I have little money, few friends, and no significant achievements to be proud of. Just now, when I read this article, I realised that my whole life could have been different if I'd just learnt to stop talking at a few key points, and listened more.
I am old, but I am not dead yet.
What do you think I should do now?

Active listening and participation might be even better. Reiterate the material directly to the teacher (You mean it might work better like this?) and then make a quick draft of what that might look like. In this case the header and footer could be clipped or resized and then working with the modified application might generate additional insights.

The important part here is the
> thin line between explaining and talking back
Because we don't have the actual contents of the discussion that took place, we can't really say who was out of line here (as an aside, I think teachers should be more willing to listen to counter points considering the profession).
I also would not say "Shut Up when Learning" because of this experience because, as noted, the line differs from person to person. Active learning is supposedly one of the best processes out there (it was emphasized a lot during my training as a tutor for a cs course).
