Between the common url structures for SaaS apps<p>- <customer>.example.com - app.example.com - app.example.com/<customer><p>Which one is better and what are the trade offs?

Are these consumer facing URLs?<p>If not, I go with app.example.com. Easy to tell customers the login URL
