Tribalism works. Most job openings are not advertised but are filled in with tribe members related to an existing employee.
Many things can be called a 'Tribe' - alumni networks, friends-of-friends, same city, extended family, and on a larger scale, caste, nation, religion, earth (if you are visiting other galaxies).
Nobody wants to credit their success to tribalism but it is a very dominant force in our lives. You need to be the right circles. Keep good company as they say.
... Or you can conveniently blame your fate on nepotism.

This is all a bit rich from a website which spells Founders with a capital F.
This crazy diagram of types of network effects reminds me of the ludicrously precise cosmologies cults come up with to make themselves seem more authoritative. How on earth could anyone test and verify this model, and so what use does it have?
Check out their 'Why?' page:
>We believe creating something of true significance starts with seeing things others do not.
>This ability shows up in rare Founders. Those who think independently and creatively. Outsiders who never compromise their point of view, and never give up.
>As Founders, we reinvented industries with this mindset.
At least they know their audience, I guess
