Belgium’s shops were shut ‘as a coronavirus shock tactic’

It&#x27;s largely all security theater that plays into the censorious, moral superiority zeitgeist.<p>People are looking for excuses to berate everyone around them.<p>People are reducing everyone around them to villains and forming communities around that shared hatred.<p>It&#x27;s insufferable.

If this is true, it seems like it could undermine trust in public health officials and compliance with public health directives.<p>I wonder if they are considering compensation for businesses that were shut down unnecessarily.
