I have been using https://mbasic.facebook.com/messages/ as an alternative to the cluttered messenger interface. To the best of my knowledge, it was the only way to read messages without javascript. However, it seems totally broken since a few days ago. I suspect the issue is global as I asked a few friends to confirm they have the same.
Is facebook renouncing to their users who do not have a js capable browser (and a sufficient CPU)?
I never knew this site existed. When visiting it, I get
> "The page you requested cannot be displayed at the moment. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may be broken or expired, or you may not have permission to view this page. Back to home"
As an aside, is it possible to avoid using the new (worse, fake-iOS-ified) UI?
mbasic has been unmaintained for a while, in my experience.
It is just barely usable, but also has many missing pages.
Lately, many links (e.g. group posts) point to m.facebook, which means that I just get redirected to the home page.
You may need to access the page by clicking a link from another mbasic page in order to have some kind of checksum in the URL.
