AT&T fiber also has a requirement to use their own router. You can treat it like a WAN and use your own equipment, but if you want to have your equipment directly connected to the Internet, you need to basically turn it into a zombie box. You use it to extract the authentication tokens for the EAP authentication AT&T requires, meaning it still requires power and you have to pay the monthly rental fee :(
