Albeit, the problems that would generate from it SEEM pretty obvious in retrospect now.<p>Social media sites that 'make it' are beholden to advertisers who want to spend money on the platform, and Disney does not want to advertise on a platform that also permits <i>any</i> extremism of any kind.<p>Then, any upstart social media that comes along, faces summary execution, because a lot of rich and powerful people now face the possibility of losing their gravy train.<p>Hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake in this arena.<p>Big money $$ always wins in the end.<p>Edit: of course this greatly simplifies a complex system and problem, but rereading it reminded me of this unattributed quote.<p>“Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it.”
