My understanding is given the new license terms, AWS will not be able to offer commercial Elastic features such as SIEM, Observability, AI/ML on their AWS Managed Elastic instances. This is going to be a bummer for folks who are planning to use Elastic beyond the App Search and Log aggregation use cases.
Either way, the odds are stacked against Amazon Elasticsearch Service
1) AWS ELK team will have to invest and build parallel feature sets of SIEM, Observability, Beats supports, AI/ML, etc.
2) AWS will end up negotiating with Elastic on a revenue sharing model where Elastic commercial features are made available
3) AWS will slowly throttle down on pushing Elastic and make way for its own cloud native solutions such as Kinesis, CloudWatch, etc
Any thoughts on how you see this panning out !
