This is a personal rant as it's a behaviour I've seen a lot recently.
I'm changing job soon, and have been making an effort to leave behind good documentation. I've noticed that the majority of people I work with have an aversion to documents. Instead I get lots of people trying to phone and get personalised walkthroughs on topics. Most of the time they've not even read an e-mail or opened a document before contacting.
What bothers me even more is where there's a lack of curiosity, with no attempt to read around a common topic. Like software teams telling me they need me to move them into Git without knowing what it is.
This isn't true for everyone I work with by the way.
What's HN's experience?
Is this common in industry?
Do workplaces need to try and become less e-mail and document centric?
