That's the best way to have a rug pulled from below you later, whenever the social channel decides so. Maybe not even the channel itself but any intermediary like Paypal.<p>IMO much more more than "presence", contacts are valuable and should be aimed for. The more channels, more possible contacts and more opportunities to do business directly without risks mentioned above. Of course there are still risks, but it's better when 1 client scams you than when your whole platform suddenly moves on.
