No operating system -- or desktop -- is perfect. But what would be a massive improvement is if all of the linux distros adopted a single desktop stack to support for enterprise/business clients while optionally supporting other desktops combos. I know this is more or less be asking the impossible of the Linux community who split hairs over everything but if a ten year "Okay, we'll all support this stack" was reached that would massively increase the Linux desktop market share and give app developers (eg: Adobe) a stable target for porting non-trivial applications.<p>The ultimate loser in such a joining of the clans would be Windows and macOS while Linux would rise rapidly in prominence. Why can't we do this?
